Summer at last: though it may be over by the time you read this. There is not much news this week because everyone has enjoyed being out of doors so much they have forgotten to send me any. Not to worry, we have to enjoy the lovely weather whilst it lasts. Lovely weather, this year, that is news.
Harrogate Stitch and Craft Group: meet tonight, Thursday, June 20 at Bilton Community Centre. Doors open 7.15pm. It is the group’s twentieth birthday and it will be celebrating with a cake. The evening workshop is about making bunting. Visitors can bring their own fat quarters of fabric and will be most welcome. The group now takes a break for summer but will be back in September.
Councillors surgery: Harrogate Borough councillor for Woodfield, Greta Knight, and North Yorkshire county councillor Andrew Goss will be at Dene Park Community Centre on Saturday, June 22 between 11am-noon. They will also be at Bilton Community Centre, 48 Bilton Lane on Thursday, June 27 between 6-7pm. If you would like your councillors to help with a problem or have a good idea to improve the area then go along to either of these. There is no need to make an appointment.
Tagg House Ladies: meet tomorrow, Friday, June 21 for a slide presentation by Anne Richards entitled Day Trips from Harrogate. Admission £1.50 includes tea and biscuits. Visitors are welcome. Bilton Grange URC Ladies Fellowship: holds its annual general meeting on Monday, June 24 at 10.30am followed by lunch at Bilton Grange United Reformed Church. For further details telephone 01423 503221. The church is on the corner of Woodfield Road and Skipton Road.
Bingo: at Bilton Community Centre on Monday, June 24 at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to this fun afternoon. Entrance 30p includes tea/coffee in the interval. The bingo tickets themselves are priced at 50p for a book of eight games. There is also a raffle.
Richard Taylor School: would like to give advance warning to its neighbours that there will be musical presentations taking place at the school on Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26 from 6.30pm. This could mean that there will be increased traffic and parked vehicles in the surrounding streets at those times.
Brigantes Lacemakers: next meet on Saturday, June 29 at Bilton Community Centre 10am-3.30pm. The theme is Lace – Beginners and more advanced with Evelyn Burnel. For further information telephone the chairman on 01377 288076.
Jumble sale: on Saturday, June 29 at St John’s Church Hall, Bilton Lane at 2pm. Go along and pick up a bargain. There is also a pedestrian entrance from Crab Lane. Telephone 01423 524351 for collection of jumble.
Lucky winner: the Bilton Community Centre draw for May produced winning number 8 for the £40 prize and number 41 for the £10 prize.

Annual Charity Walk: Harrogate Lions Club is organising a charity walk along the Nidderdale Greenway from Ripley to Harrogate on Saturday, July 20. This is in aid of the Harrogate Eye Laser Project. It is the aim of the Lions to raise £80,000 for Harrogate District Hospital to purchase a new laser eye machine which will enable it to treat more people more quickly and with less discomfort, and ultimately help prevent more people from going blind.
