Remembrance Sunday: the Benefice Remembrance Service was held at St Bartholomew’s, where the church was packed, followed by the wreath laying in the village.
Arkendale Community Hall AGM: it is three years since the new hall opened, and since that time hundreds of events have taken place there. You have possibly attended family parties or entertainment such as musical concerts, plays or the cinema. You may have come along to coffee mornings or beetle drives or be part of the Wine Society, zumba. pilates, WI, Young Farmers, Mums and Toddlers, Farm Women’s Guild or other regular groups using the hall. The AGM will be held in the hall on Thursday, November 29, at 7.30pm, giving you an opportunity to support the work of the Trustees and Committee, hear about their finances and plans, and also to enjoy a glass of wine to celebrate three successful years. All are welcome.
Autumn Serenade: St Bartholomew’s Church is the venue for a seasonal concert from Side by Side who will be performing songs from the shows, light opera and songs to make you smile! Tickets for the concert on Friday, November 23, 7.30pm can be obtained from 01423 340531, £10 – including a glass of wine and canapés served in the Community Hall afterwards. Proceeds will go to church funds.
