Knaresborough air cadets have had a “Top Gun” experience in some of the RAF’s top flight simulators.

Seven cadets from 1953 (Knaresborough) Sqn completed a day’s air operations experience using three of North Region’s advanced F-16 simulators at RAF Linton on Ouse, near York, along with cadets from another squadron.

They were fully immersed in the training environment with flying suits, and were even given real RAF squadron call-signs like Volatile, Triplex, Export, and Firebird.

The day concluded with an air combat tournament between the two halves of the course, with a bit of inter-squadron rivalry, and the prize for “Top Gun” went to Knaresborough cadet Suzie ‘Export’ Firth.

1953 (Knaresborough) Sqn parades every Tuesday and Friday at the Cadet Centre on Halfpenny Lane, between 7pm and 9:30pm. For more information please contact Flt Lt Ian Bottomley on email oc.1953@aircadets.org or come along and speak to any member of staff on a parade night.
