THE Harrogate branch of a self-help organisation that offers learning opportunities to over 50’s will hold its annual general meeting on Friday, September 23 at The Cairn Hotel.
University of the Third Age (U3A) is an international co-operative, that draws on members skills to provide social, recreational and cultural activities to its membership.
The Harrogate branch has more than 850 members and nearly 50 interest groups including foreign languages (French, German, Italian & Spanish), art, bridge, cookery, calligraphy, croquet, family history, gardening, keep fit, looking at churches, Mah-Jong, natural history, philosophy, photography, poetry, square dancing, four walking groups etc.
Prior to the AGM, Harrogate U3A groups will have displays at The Cairn Hotel which will be open to the public from 11am.
Harrogate U3A also arranges monthly meetings at The Cairn Hotel, with guest speakers in the coming year scheduled to discuss Harrogate Theate, Ripon Cathedral, The Great Yorkshire Show and much more.
