An 89-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the A59 in Harrogate on Sunday afternoon (June 5).

Police were called to the scene at around 1.30pm after a serious two car crash on the A59 at Kettlesing.

The 89-year-old's car overturned during the crash but officers were able to rescue the woman upon their arrival.

An ambulance crew were called and treated the woman at the scene for her injuries before she was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

The woman suffered serious chest injuries but is said to be in a stable condition.
