A man died after his car collided with a tree near Beckwithshaw in the early hours of this morning.

The 21-year-old from West Yorkshire was driving a silver Ford Focus which collided with a tree on the B6162 Otley Road at around 12.15am on Friday January 25.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and no other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the collision.

Traffic Sergeant Trevor Burton, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “Unfortunately, this collision has resulted in the death of a young man and we need to establish exactly how the incident occurred.

“Witnesses will be vital to our investigation and if you have any information that can help, I urge you to come forward as soon as possible.”
