A Knaresborough woman is appealing for help to identify two mystery members of a popular 1960s drama group in the town.

Janet MacLeellan, nee Batten, has unearthed pictures taken almost 50 years ago of the St Robert’s Players who met in St John’s Parish Church hall.

Mrs MacLellan said: “They are two small reminders of the fun and laughter we had at St John’s Parish Church.

“There were Brownies and Guides, a well attended Youth Club and a rather special amateur dramatic group called the St Robert’s Players who put on plays in the parish hall and also took part in the Nidderdale Drama Festival which they won on one occasion!”

Mrs MacLellan has sent the Knaresborough Post a photograph and a newspaper cutting from those days – and wants help to identify two unknown women on the photo.

If you recognise either of the two women seated on the right and left of the front row, contact the Post via email on kna.news@ypn.co.uk or by writing to the Knaresborough Post, Cardale Park, 1 Beckwith Head Road, Harrogate, HG3 1RZ.
