Yorkshire in dramatic focus
Northern Broadsides ' production of Gogol's A Government Inspector.
Harrogate Theatre is demonstrating its commitment to local dramatic talent by presenting called All Points North, a mini-season of three world premieres in one Yorkshire festival.
Running from Spetember 7-29, All Points North boasts three never-before-seen plays, from Northern Broadsides, Reform Theatre and North Country Theatre.
Not only does the festival continue the theatre’s ongoing commitment to working with the best theatre companies - big and small - the region and the country have to offer, but takes it one step further with three large-scale full-on co-productions in the space of a month.
Following the critical success of Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Northern Broadsides associate director Conrad Nelson and playwright Deborah McAndrew once again team up to bring their unique brand of Northern inventiveness and humour to the stage with A Government Inspector, a Yorkshire take on Nikolai Gogol’s witty satire which premieres at Harrogate Theatre from Friday, September 7 to Saturday, September 22.
Best mates and boxing take centre stage in Seconds Out, a co-production with Harrogate Theatre’s associate company Reform Theatre. Running at Harrogate Studio Theatre Tuesday, September 18 to Saturday, September 29, the new show is from the pen of Nick Lane, who has scored hits with dark comedies My Favourite Summer and Housebound.
Docking at Harrogate Theatre from Wednesday, September 26 to Saturday, September 29, The Lighthouse On Shivering Sands is co-presented by North Country Theatre and directed by Yorkshireman Nobby Dimon, who previously reinvented West End hit The 39 Steps which began life in Harrogate Theatre’s Studio Theatre with slapstick and a lot of step ladders!
