Tickets on sale for symphony orchestra’s Shakespeare show
Knaresborough conductor Martin Binks has devised a special programme for Leeds Symphony Orchestra’s concert to be held this weekend at King James’ School.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the inspiration behind countless compositions, is to be theme of Saturday’s concert.
Music from five different composers including Berlioz (1839), Tchaikovsky (1869), Gounod (1865), Bellini (1830) and Prokofiev (1936), is to feature in the performance which begins at 7.30pm.
“It is a fascinating experience to listen to, and to compare, the different approaches these five composers take in their response to Shakespeare,” said Mr Binks.
“This concert was given to a sell-out audience in Leeds last Saturday and was enthusiastically received by all present in the huge church of St Chad’s in Headingley.
“Leeds Symphony Orchestra is hoping for a similar turn-out and response by Knaresborough music lovers on Saturday.”
Tickets for this Saturday’s concert can be booked at Castlegate Books in the Market Place in Knaresborough or bought at the door on the evening of the concert.
