Superbike champion takes test in Knaresborough
World championship superbike rider Dan Linfoot passed his motorcycle licence test last week in Knaresborough.
The 24-year-old Knaresborough local stood on the podium in October after placing third in the world championships finale in Magny-Cours.
Less than a month later he was riding a bike with L-plates around Knaresborough under the guidance of instructors from A2B Motorcycle Training.
Dan said: “I am really enjoying it. The bikes are totally different to the racing bikes I am used to but I am much more comfortable with bikes than I am driving my car.”
Despite riding motorbikes since he was six years old, Dan only passed his theory test at Knaresborough test centre last week.
He said: “I didn’t do the road test before now because I wanted to concentrate on racing.
“At the age of 16 or 17 my racing career started taking off so I wanted to take that chance. I didn’t wanted to risk injuring myself either.”
Martin Pettitt, an instructor from A2B Motorcycle Training, said: “Dan is a good road rider.
“He is very considerate of other road-users, which is what we want. He will give riders in North Yorkshire a good name.”
Proving that motor-biking is not just for boys, 21-year-old Hannah Jenkins is currently learning to ride with A2B.
Martin explained: “She is currently a paramedic and with a motorcycle licence she will be able to become a first responder paramedic.”
