'Sexually graphic' Berkoff at Harrogate Theatre
CONTAINING graphic language and images of a highly sexual nature, the next production by amateur dramatics company 6:12 is a bold choice.
The Harrogate-based group is preparing to perform Decadence by Stephen Berkoff, written in the playwright's typically uncompromising style.
The director of 6:12, Michael Garside, is hoping this rare chance to see the play will have a particular appeal for those studying drama and theatre at sixth form level.
He says: "The views and attitudes expressed in the play are challenging and we have to keep reminding ourselves that it is not our voices speaking but those of the characters."
As usual with 6:12 productions, a 'talk-back' session after each performance will give the audience the chance to speak to the director and cast about the show.
Decadence runs at Harrogate Theatre Studio from July 8-11 at 8pm. Children under 16 will not be allowed into the auditorium.
