Sax ace Snake is set to wow fans

ONE of the country's best known saxophonists, Snake Davis, returns home for a live performance at Harrogate's Cairn Hotel on Sunday night. The Snake Davis Band have just completed a successful UK tour, opening for Lisa Stansfield, which included a sold -out night at the Royal Albert Hall. On stage Snake is joined by keyboards, bass guitar and drums to play a varied selection of original compositions, soul funk jazz and pop covers.

Since studying at Leeds College of Music, Snake has famously recorded with Paul McCartney, M-People, George Michael, Ray Charles, Boy George, Lisa Stansfield, Lemar, Take That, Kylie Minogue and Tina Turner. And with solos on chart hits such as M People's Moving on Up, Search for the Hero and Take That's A Million Love Songs, he is no stranger to top 40 chart success.

His live appearances alongside legends including James Brown and Smokey Robinson, as well as latter-day icons such as the Eurythmics and Mark Almond, make for an impressive portfolio of experience that is still evolving and developing.

He has presented a masterclass programme for ITV and also appeared as himself in the BBC's gangland drama The Paradise Club , allowing him to write and perform some of his own music and play the theme tune.

On Sunday budding musicians will get to learn from the man himself as Snake Davis leads a sell-out workshop ahead of his evening show at the Cairn Hotel.

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are 13.
