Nidderdale and District Drama Festival launches

LOCAL drama groups are gearing up for the annual feast of competitive one-act drama that is the Nidderdale and District Drama Festival.

It is is taking place over three nights next week at the splendidly extended and re-furbished Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough and promises a varied and exciting programme.

First up, on Thursday, March 11, are Harrogate Dramatic Society and Knaresborough Players; Friday sees Ripon Junior Rowels and Woodlands Drama Group taking to the stage; while Saturday, March 13, brings Harrogate Youth Theatre and Ripon Rowel Players.

Those taking advantage of the three nights for the price of two offer will be entitled to vote for the play and performance that has given them most enjoyment, with this year's winning group going forward to the quarter final round of the prestigious All England Theatre Festival at Bishop Monkton village hall on April 17.

Performances next week begin at 7.30pm and tickets cost 7 (under 13s 2), or 14 for all three three nights and can be purchased on the door or reserved by calling 01423 712240.
