H BOMB Rocks the Amps proved a successful event at the Yorkshire Events Centre. Held as part of Hearts Festival and starring a host of great young groups who did well in the AMP Awards, I particularly enjoyed Matt and Joe of Mixed Tape doing a cover of The Kinks' Sunny Afternoon. Nearly as good as Ray Davies's version at Glastonbury on telly the next day.

IF you were lucky enough to be at the Karl Culley and Friends acoustic night at the Blues Bar in Harrogate this week you'll have caught a terrifically lively, varied and almost unhinged, set of original songs by striking, Manchester-based singer-songwriter Natasha Lea Jones. It was easy to see why she came so close to success with her first outfit Pooka a while back.
