Exciting concert for St Peter’s grand reopening

THE Fisher Singers, supported by opera stars from Covent Garden and pupils from St John Fisher’s School will perform two contrasting works at the grand re-opening concert at St Peter’s Church in Harrogate next Friday.

Perhaps one of the most popular pieces of music ever written, Carl Orff’s dramatic Carmina Burana has been used in countless films and TV programmes including TV’s ‘The X Factor’.

The second piece is Howard Goodall’s Eternal Light. This beautifully lyric piece contains the familiar arrangement of The Lord is My Shepherd as featured in the BBC’s The Vicar of Dibley.

Opera soloists from Covent Garden will support the choir at the newly-refurbished St Peter’s Church.

Tenor Nicholas Sales’ concert and oratorio work has taken him all over the world, including to Dubai, Tokyo, St Lucia and Chile. In 2003 he met and sang for Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and José Carreras!

Since returning to the UK, Nick has worked extensively for Heritage Opera and recently debuted for Welsh National Opera.

Soprano Sarah Helsby Hughes is currently artistic director of Heritage Opera for whom she has directed 12 productions.

After graduating from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music, Sarah’s career has taken her all over the world to prestigious venues. Bass Baritone John Anthony Cunningham has performed many roles for English National Opera, Kentish Opera and Opera North

l The concert on March 24 begins at 7.30pm. Tickets costing £10 are available from 01423 818454 or 01765 608057 and can be also purchased on the door.
