A new family food festival is being held in the city this summer.

The Tastes of Yorkshire Food and Drink Family Festival will be at Ripon Racecourse in June with a host of local chefs showcasing the best in home-grown produce.

Andrew Pern from the Star at Harome and Steph Moon, consultant chef at Rudding Park will be joining Paul Jackson from The Crown Inn at Great Ouseburn at the event.

Hambleton Ales Nick Stafford will be hosting a Beer Festival with up to 20 brews from across the county.

Entry will be free and there will be a wide range of live cooking shows at the festivals’ demonstration kitchens, one focussing on adults and the other on meals for the family.

Hambleton Ales will also be hosting a music stage in the Beer and Drinks Hall for local acts to showcase their talents. Younger children can enjoy bouncy castles, face painting and the chance to make their own pizzas in the Children’s Cooking Workshops. They will then be cooked in a proper wood fired pizza oven.

Food lovers will be able to indulge at the Gourmet Market with selling bread, meat, fish, jams, fruit juices and locally sourced vegetables, with opportunities to talk to the traders and learn more about the produce they are selling.

The Tastes of Yorkshire Food and Drink Family Festival takes place on Saturday, June 16 from 10.30am to 6pm at Ripon Racecourse.Entry and parking are free of charge.
