Well done Lions – it was yet another wonderful town Bed Race!

From Jean Welch. SOS Kenya Appeal, Knaresborough.

A MAJOR thank you once again to the Lions for staging another wonderful Bed Race day.

Thanks to all the beds, what a wonderful, wonderful spectacle and so much thought, hard work and enthusiasm going into every bed.

As spectators, everyone I spoke to said it was a wonderful day and thanks to the hard work of everyone involved.

I should personally like to thank the support of the Knaresborough shops, cafes, takeaways, hairdressers and market traders for their wonderful selection of prizes for the tombola for SOS for Kenya on the day. We raised 144.30 which has been sent to Kenya to the Hope Women’s Group Orphanage to go towards keeping senior school children in school.

In Kenya, for senior school children, no fees mean no school. The fundraising is an ongoing situation and should anyone feel they can hold a fund raising event, your contribution would make a world of difference to destitute orphans.

We also continue to raise funds for equipment for disabled Hope children. I am always happy to give talks about the children I met on my trip to Kenya and Fairtrade.

Once again, Knaresborough Lions, thanks for a wonderful day.
