Save the Guy Fawkes: sadly Mark and Tracey are moving on at the end of the month to take a job at Flamborough which they need to see them through the summer season when they make most of their money. However they go with the villages’ good wishes and thanks for reviving the pub over the Christmas and New Year period and for helping to ensure the pub has a future. Saturday, February 23 was their last day open as Mark ran down his stocks. The pub may be closed for a short while but it is believed that Punch Taverns will put in another tenant as they need to keep the pub on their balance sheet until August. In the meantime the application to register the Guy Fawkes as a Community Asset has gone into HBC and a decision is expected within six to eight weeks, and the Save the Guy Fawkes committee is waiting to hear about the date of the planning committee which will decide the fate of Punch’s planning application. So as to keep everyone up to date with what’s happening another open meeting is now planned for Saturday, March 2 at 5pm in the village hall (not February 26 as stated last week). Please give your village pub your full support.

Raise the Roof Campaign - The FAB Beatles: Helen Watkinson has the last remaining tickets available in the village for the concert on Saturday, March 16. Don’t be disappointed – contact Helen on 01423 866199 or call at Barnstones, New Road. There’s a prize for the best 60s fancy dress.
