Literary Highlight for Village Children: North Rigton C of E Primary School has just celebrated its first ever Literary Festival. All week the school has buzzed with excitement over a range of literary based activities. Children and staff met two real life authors, Steve Hartley and Donna Iliffe-Pollard who entertained and inspired the children reading excerpts from their books and running workshops. The whole school dressed up as their favourite book characters with literary themes linking lessons, inspiring a presentation by Year 5 and 6. Competitions and a book fair were ongoing throughout the week and children even went back after school one night for bedtime and scary stories! Literacy coordinator Mrs Hesketh said “The children and staff at North Rigton School love books and it has been wonderful to celebrate the joy of reading amongst our school community”.

A Choir for Christmas: the Benefice Carol service in St Barnabas church, Weeton will be on Wednesday, December 19 at 7.30pm

Most Amusing!: The Huby and Weeton Players performance of Two by Jim Cartright was a fantastic comedy production for their ninety year. The play which is based around a Yorkshire pub, with all the parts played by just two actors, was funny and well executed. The actors were amazing with their portrayal of the many characters and the monologues were faultless. Well done to everyone involved in the production.
