On December 31 fire crews were called to three separate incidents relating to flooding at Cattal.

At 10.45am a man had become stuck in his car after driving through 4ft of flood water on Cattal Moor Lane. Fire crews from Knaresborough and Wetherby rescued the male with throw lines and Police then closed the road due to high water levels.

At 4.38pm five people were rescued from a car on Ox Moor Lane in Cattal. The car had driven into 3ft of standing water. Fire crews from Knaresborough, Wetherby and Ripon attended and walked the occupants to safety.

Flood warnings for the River Nidd are no longer in force.

River levels peaked at about midday on New Years day and are expected to continue to drop.
