Dowager Lady Ingilby laid to rest

The funeral service for Diana, Dowager Lady Ingilby, was held at All Saint’s Church on Friday February 8.

The widow of Sir Joslan Ingilby of Ripley Castle was laid to rest with a civic funeral attended by civic dignitaries.

Lady Ingilby died peacefully at Warwick Nursing Home, Harrogate, on January 19: two hours short of celebrating her 93rd birthday.

As an Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Harrogate Lady Ingilby was honoured with a civic funeral in recognition to a life dedicated to public service.

She was nominated as an Honorary Alderman of the Borough of Harrogate after more than 25 years of service as a councillor.

Dowager Lady Ingilby served on both Nidderdale Rural District Council and Harrogate Borough Council after it merged in 1973

As well as serving as chairman of the board of governors of Ripley C of E Primary School and was a governor of Harrogate Ladies’ College.

She was a very active church warden at All Saints Church.
