Allerton Park waste plan meeting on Tuesday
An artists impression of what the Allerton Waste Recovery Park will look like (s)
CONTROVERSIAL plans for a waste recovery park at Allerton Park, near Knaresborough, will be discussed at next week’s planning meeting of Harrogate Borough Council.
The planning application has been submitted by North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council for a multi-million pound waste park, complete with incinerator, to be situated close to rural villages, just off the A59 outside Knaresborough and adjacent to the A1.
The meeting is on Tuesday, February 14 at 2pm at the Council Offices, Crescent Gardens, Harrogate.
NYWAG (North Yorkshire Waste Action Group) has launched a fierce campaign against the proposed park, which will be operated by Spanish contractor, Amey Cespa. It has collected thousands of signatures from people against the plans. It says there are other more environmentally-friendly alternatives and is urging the Government to call the application in so the final decision can be made by an independent Government Inspector, rather than by NYCC itself.
Officers recommendations for the application are for ‘no objections subject to a number of observations.’

To see a TRUE photo-montage of how this development will appear (and one created by the developers themselves) please visit this link: (note: ensure "photos" is switched on within your browser): http:maps.google.co.ukmaps?ll=54.029371,-1.395725&spn=0.004229,0.013078&t=m&z=17&iwloc=lyrftr:com.panoramio.all,6304754082445749055,54.028961,-1.397141&layer=t&lci=com.panoramio.all JW, Coneythorpe

Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 11:20 AMJust what are these more enviromental plans. Big silence on that then. Are these people saying that the council that they elected are no good. What kind of wally elects a body to represent them and then doesnt want them to do thier job. Silly, selfish or both. Definetly NIMBY`s though. mmmm
